Hi
I have read almost everything in this forum and is seems to be for people that really know what they are doing, of which I'm not one of you. I'm hoping that you will be able to help me as I can't find help on the net.
I am having a randomizer site built for me and I therefore don't actually have the script which is the randomizer version 2.3.
As a result I also don't have any instructions on how to change anything.
Does anyone know of anywhere that I might be able to get a tutorial or guide to using the randomizer?
I don't want to let it loose on anyone until I kow exactly how it works and what I am doing with it.
I'm sure you have guessed that I am a total newbie with no programming knowledge whatsoever.
I have searched on the net for a tutorial or an "idiots guide" but can't find anything at all.
Any help will be most welcome.
p.s. I have emailed the person building the site with a few questions but they haven't replied yet. I am eager to get started and so thought I might have a quicker response on here. |

Well I must say that I am a little disappointed that no-one has bothered to reply to me.
If there is another forum for complete newbies then could someone point me in the right direction?
Not everyone with a script is an expert.
Surely everyone here was a newbie to start with. |

| I second the opinion. I am a reseller of TheRandomizer V3.0. It would be great if a help/installation manual could be published and made available with the script. |

Hi
Can anyone tell me whether I can upload just the config.php if I want to make some changes or do I need to reinstall the whole lot?
I would also like to make some changes to the content.php so would the same answer apply?
I have tried to edit the files via my ftp client aceftp but can't seem to work out how to do it., all it does is edit the notepad file on my pc not on the site.
This is really frustrating!!! |

I found the best way to manage this is to edit a copy of the config.php file on my PC, save, then upload the edited version to the server via FTP so the server file is overwritten.
BUT be sure to make a copy of the original config.php file first just in case your edited file goes wrong - so you can reinstall the original file.
I haven't tried editing any of the other files, but the same process would probably work OK. ALWAYS make a copy of the original file first just in case!
Regards

Could somebody tell me exactly what I need to do to put software into the members area?
I don't know where to put it so that only members have access to it. I am using smartftp as my ftp programme but just don't know how to upload software into the right place.
I will need very simple step by step instructions if somebody wouldn't mind.
Thanking you in advance. |
